Hiring Process

Thank you for considering Metropolitan Nannies for your family’s childcare needs. Our mission is to provide exceptional nanny services to families in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, Virginia and Maryland. Through our extensive screening and interview process, we personally match your family with the highest-quality, reliable and experienced childcare providers available.

How do I find the perfect caregiver for my family with Metropolitan Nannies?

Step One: Complete the Parent Application
Please complete the online application as thoroughly as possible.

Step Two: Submit Application Fee
Please pay the non-refundable $225 application fee which covers the costs of background checks and other processing fees, promoting with current candidates, agency’s recruiting and personally interviewing candidates, coordinating potential interviews with your family; in-home Initial Consultation and consultations regarding potential candidates; Welcome Packet with Interview questions and suggestions on structuring compensation

Step Three: Review and Sign Metropolitan Nannies Client Agreement
It is important that you understand this agreement as it covers fee structure, replacement guarantees, services to be provided and other important legal verbiage.

Step Four: Needs Assessment with Placement Counselor
After a detailed conversation with a placement counselor, we match nannies to your specific requirements and schedule them for interviews accordingly.

Step Five: Review Candidate Profiles
Metropolitan Nannies
will provide the nanny profiles we feel are a great match for your family. You will receive comprehensive profiles, which will include the candidate’s education, qualifications and experience. In addition, you will also have access to their application, reference checks and background check reports.

Step Six: Interview Nanny Candidates
Metropolitan Nannies
can help arrange times for the candidates to come to your home or our office so you can meet and interview them yourself. We provide you with helpful interview questions. Our goal is to have families meet between 3-5 candidates during the placement process.

Step Seven: Select Your Candidate and Make an Offer
Once you have decided on a candidate that is right for your family, let Metropolitan Nannies know, and we will call the candidate and offer the position at the salary you are offering. If the candidate accepts your offer, you will then complete a Letter of Intent to Hire. Once the letter is received by Metropolitan Nannies, the final extensive background checks are performed. Criminal background checks take between 24-48 hours (out of state may be longer). A copy of the completed background check can be provided upon request.

Step Eight: Review and Sign Nanny/Family Agreement
The agreement outlines your nanny’s job responsibilities, wages, benefits and hours.

Step Nine: Deliver Fee and Contract to Metropolitan Nannies
The process is complete. The Nanny Placement Fee is now due to Metropolitan Nannies. Fee must be received at least
5 business days before your nanny is to begin work.
